Merry Cookiemas!

I’m not really sure why cookies are a Christmas thing. But I love that they are. I like the aesthetic of holiday cookie boxes and the idea of cookie exchanges. I like the simple decorations on Christmas cookies.

‘Twas the Week Before Christmas

Was Sunday REALLY the Fourth Sunday of Advent? Nah. It couldn’t have been.

‘Tis the Season for Shopping

Tim and I went Christmas shopping on Wednesday, and it was nice to spend a couple hours with him as we thought of others. Christmas shopping taught us to think beyond ourselves, to understand and appreciate the love that is generosity and giving to others.

Getting Closer!

Christmas is getting closer. Less than two weeks to go! That concept is hard to wrap my mind around; it still feels like I just put up my decorations. This Sunday, we lit the pink candle – pink for joy. The day is also called Gaudete Sunday. It’s a week for celebration, since we’re almost to Christ’s arrival.

The Most Important Library

Though I’m often reading, I sometimes forget books mean as much to others as they do to me. But then I come across a book like The Librarian of Auschwitz, and I know books really are one of the most important ways we connect to the world.

Yes, Virginia

We just celebrated the Second Sunday of Advent. That meant it was time to light another candle! Over the last few days, I’ve been doing a lot of reflection on God’s love and what that looks like — not simply in the way He loves me, but in the way we love others. And for whatever beautiful reason, Christmas is a time for love in a way that other holidays and other seasons aren’t.
